Message to Our School Community:

C.P. Smith Elementary School recognizes that the presidential election has been a challenging time for many of our students, families, and staff members.  The negative and divisive language used during the campaign has led many in our community to feel isolated, targeted, and concerned for their safety.  A hallmark of who we are as a school is that every one of our students and family members is accepted and welcomed in our school community.  We will be especially vigilant in the days ahead that our students are "safe, responsible, and respectful."  We must be nice to each other, use appropriate language, and support each other.  We denounce any form of prejudice or bias and urge our students and families to let us know immediately if they are hearing disrespectful language or if they are being targeted by others.  It is important that our school community models for others the respect we must have for each other.  Thank you.
